Please read all of the bio to ensure you have all information.
REESE is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm & tick-disease tested Negative and micro-chipped, he weighs around 45 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of April 2015.
REESE is a young, energetic, affectionate, happy boy. Did I mention he was energetic? He is loving being at the rescue free from the life he had previously lived and enjoys running and chasing the other dogs.
REESE is settling great at the rescue. When he first arrived he did have a tendency to growl when he was eating, but this can be common with rescue dogs who have lived on the streets and had to fend/feed themselves. However, over time he has been doing much better and does eat with the other dogs. He is very high energy and at times does irritate the other dogs as he just wants to play and wrestle almost all of the time. Some dogs enjoy that also, but there are others that are not interested and will growl or show him they are not interested at which he responds accordingly and moves on to find someone else to play.
Whilst he is high energy and for the most part running and playing, he is also very affectionate. He will come and lay his head on my lap, or try and climb up on the chair with me, and then push his head under my arm so that I am giving him the attention that he craves and deserves.
REESE is definitely in need of basic and advanced training, he needs to learn manners as he does jump up a lot in a very exciteable way. He is extremely smart and very responsive and I do not believe that it will take long, with correct guidance and training, for him to learn how to behave and act well mannered, but still have his crazy fun playing and chasing his friends. He does play with toys, but at the moment he is more interested in chasing and playing with the other dogs.
REESE will need an active family that can cater to his high energy needs and be able to commit to spending time and work with him in training.
We do not have cats in the rescue, however, we do have a rabbit in two XL dog crates tied together - he is not really interested in BUGS, only really when she stamps her feet does it get his attention, he is more interested, at the moment, in charging around and playing.
REESE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

REESE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
