Give a Dog a Home Rescue Wellness on Wheels Low Cost Pet Services Program |
Check our EVENTS page for our " Wellness on Wheels" dates and locations
With the number of stray and unwanted animals drastically increasing, adoptions throughout the US hitting an all time low, the economy getting worse and the veterinary field being overwhelmed, Give a Dog a Home Rescue is thankful that we are in position to set up and operate our "Wellness on Wheels" low cost pet services program.
Please see the bottom of the page, the payment types that we are able to accept!
We are only able to do this, with the commitment and support of our regular volunteers and with the added bonus of having an amazing licensed veterinary technician, Samantha Dwelley,(and her husband/assistant Olaf) with a passion to go above and beyond to help animals and volunteer to be an integral part of our "Wellness on Wheels" program. Whilst we are excited to be able to offer local communities the opportunity of low cost pet services, it is important that people be responsible pet owners and ensure their pets are seen by a licensed veterinarian for annual exams and in times of sickness and/or injury. I will point out as we get asked ALL the time - as we do not have a licensed veterinarian, we are NOT able to offer the Rabies Vaccine. |
Although Samantha is a licensed veterinary technician, she is not allowed to diagnose, or treat pets and so our services will remain within the limits of doing all that we can to help people and their pets get the basic wellness care that they need at the lowest cost we are able to offer. As Give a Dog a Home Rescue has accounts with IDEXX laboratories and also Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostics Laboratory, we are able to offer fecal testing, blood/chemistry testing and also the canine core vaccine titer tests. We are able to accept the pets stool and/or urine samples that clients bring with them and/or draw the required blood, send it off to the relevant laboratory, where the requested tests will be run and results emailed to the rescue, who will then forwarded them onto our clients and if they request, their veterinarian. |
It is also important that people understand that if their pet HATES having their nails trimmed, ears touched, blood drawn or anything else, we are not going to stress your pet out and struggle to do the service. Samantha is trained to deal and handle animals in all situations, however, we are not in a veterinary clinic, with other trained staff on hand and the safety and emotional wellbeing of your pet and the rescue volunteers will ALWAYS be our priority. |
