PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT SAGE,HER LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.
SAGE we believe is a beautiful Anatolian Shepherd. She
is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested negative and micro-chipped, she weighs around 70 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 28 July 2013
SAGE was very nervous in the shelter and when she first came to the rescue but over time she has started to relax and be a lot happier, rolling around on her back, playing with the other dogs and following me around.
SAGE, at first was slightly possessive over her food, but has been happily eating with the other dogs ok now, but this is something that should be taken note of when taking her home if other pets are there initially to keep them separate at feeding times until they get to know each other and she has settled in. She has never been aggressive, just the warning growl that this is her food and to back off.
SAGE gets on great with the other dogs and human and children alike. She does jump up at times when she wants attention but when told "down" she is responsive, but this is something that will need work, especially if small or young children are around.
SAGE will benefit from an active family that has the time to work with her in basic and advanced training, she is very responsive and so this should not be difficult and a lot of fun. We encourage families to train the dog together so that everyone can learn each others personalities and body language and expectations and boundaries can be set.
SAGE rides great in the car, she is happy to either lie down and relax or look out of the window. She would greatly benefit from going on lots of adventures, hiking, camping, trial walking and such, letting her put her senses to work and take in the many sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer
We currently feed a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food and she does well on it.
We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how she would react around cats.
SAGE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $250. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

SAGE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
