KATIE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 March 2015 and weighs around 50 pounds.

KATIE is a great girl who spent time with her foster family who has 3 German Shepherds and also a cat. KATIE did not pay any attention to the cat. KATIE is shy initially but when she accepts people are safe she is a complete love bug. She doesn't like having a collar put on, that could be either because she is not used to it, or she has been maybe abused around her neck using her collar, so care needs to be taken, until  both she and family are comfortable with the collar.

She is extremely thin and it will take a good while for her to gain weight, but a good diet, supplements and nutrients and she will gain at a steady pace and start to fill out in a healthy way.

KATIE is currently a calm girl, but that could be more to her decompressing from the horrible life she has had previously. She is still young and so with love, a safe, caring home, a good diet, lots of yummy treats and a great road trips and adventures she will thrive and mostly like start regaining her energy and playfulness and maybe even catch up on her puppy-life that she most likely missed.

KATIE will benefit from an active family, one that has time to spend training her to at least basic and advanced levels. We encourage families to train dogs together so that both dog and humans can learn each other's body language, personalities, boundaries and expectations.

​KATIE  is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, any transport fee's we incur, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

KATIE is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.y.
