BALTO is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick disease tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 16th July 2013 and he weighs around 70 pounds.
BALTO is a big handsome, gentle giant. He likes to settle down in his new environment, take in the changes and then within a few days he will be hunting down toys and either keeping himself occupied playing with his toys, or bringing them to you so you can join in.
BALTO is very affectionate and if he isn't getting his ears scratched or belly rubbed he is lay by the chair or sofa depending on where I am sat. BALTO is very laid back, at the rescue he lives amongst the other rescue dogs ranging from 4 pound to 95 pounds, he actually has a 4 pound chi mix who is infatuated by him and follows him everywhere. If he is eating, she will go to eat. If he is stood up, she will stand on her back legs to reach him, when he is lay down she will lick his face. Although at times he does get irritated all it takes is a little growl and she backs off and he settles back down, but it takes a lot for him to get to where he will growl at her and it is then a gentle growl.
BALTO is very responsive and will be very easy and fun to train. He does like to counter-surf and has at one point got into the microwave and taken my meal out and ate it. I am not sure if it was just a fluke that when he jumped up his paw hit the button and the door opened, much to his delight, or if he is that smart and knew what to do. All I know is that when I went outside, my meal was cooking and when I came back in - it was gone lol.
BALTO will need a family that has time to spend teaching him his boundaries and their expectations, a family that has time to train him in basic and advanced obedience training, which I do not think will take long, but just sets the standard and helps both humans and BALTO understand each other's body language and personalities which help with bonding and living in harmony together.
An active family is needed as BALTO is a big boy and he needs to be able to release the physical and mental energy and there is nothing better than road trips to exciting places allowing him to take in the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer.
BALTO

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, any transport fee's we incur, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this handsome boy a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.
Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

BALTO is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
