Please take the time to read all information provided as it could answer some questions you may have.  GHOST was saved from Texas where most shelters have to kill dogs for space after just 3 days.

She is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in other states and Canada where our dogs get adopted.   GHOST is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm & tick-disease tested (Snap 4dx) negative and micro-chipped. She weighs around 50 -60 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 28 October 2015.

GHOST we believe is a Dutch Shepherd mix who is high energy and needs to have a job or lots of mental stimulation. She is fun, very affectionate and most of the time great with other dogs, although she does show alpha tendencies and so she will need to be watched around other dogs until it established who is who and they are both settled with each other.

GHOST is fantastic with all dogs, she is perfect with the pups and lets the crawl all over her, pulling her ear or tail, she will nurture them as if they were her own. She is fun with other dogs, although can be a bit "Full-on" and over bearing for some dogs. She is the type of dog that when I bring a new dog into the rescue she cannot wait to show them around, show them how to play and get up to mischief.

GHOST is full of love and affection, but needs some training in manners, a lot of that is due to all the excitement and over-stimulation she tends get herself all worked up, but she has been through a lot in a short period of time and when she has had more time to settle in, get into the routine and expel some of the energy she has been storing up, she will be much better. That being said, she is a high energy girl that does and will need a lot of stimulation.

GHOST did have some food aggression when she first came to the rescue but soon learned that the food is there for her and she doesn't need to try and keep it to herself. She is a stunning girl with so much love and affection, once trained she will be amazing, but she will definitely need a family that understand working breed mind-set and has a strong alpha/leadership role in their home.

We do not have cats in the rescue so are unable to comment on how she would be around them.

GHOST would benefit from an active, fun family that has the time to work with her on her obedience and manners, who would take her on adventures and road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She would benefit from a family that has the time to work with her on basic and advanced obedience training. By working together both GHOST and her humans can learn each others body language and personality, expectations and boundaries can be set and with self-training a stronger bond formed.

We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!

GHOST  is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process.

Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.  http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org

GHOST is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
