Tiny was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 15 August 2013 and he weighs around 8 pounds. Tiny is listed has been listed as a Chihuahua. He does have the wire hair so maybe more of a terrier. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is.
Tiny is a very happy little boy. He has spurts of energy where he just charges around and bounces on and off everything, He can be submissive if he thinks he has done wrong he will instantly roll over onto his back and look at you with pleading eyes, but as soon as he knows he is ok, he bounces back up and goes on his running spree.
The vet in Texas have aged him as 4 years old, however, he acts very young and "puppy-like" we do not recommend him being around small kids as he does bite/nibble, this is not done in an aggressive way, just a playful way that has never been corrected and so he doesn't know it is wrong. It is something that his family absolutely must work on though as other people might see this as him being aggressive and biting and that really is not the case.
Tiny is, as his name says very small, he can easily escape through small holes so a safe secure home and especially back yard is important. Tiny lives in the house with me, my dogs and some other rescue dogs of all ages and sizes and he gets on great with them, he loves to play with toys and enjoys chewing on the cow hooves. He loves to snuggle and once he has had his crazy energy burst would be happy to cuddle up on your lap and settle down. We do not have cats at the rescue so are not able to comment on how he would be with or around them.
Although a small dog who will enjoy being carried around, it is important that his family understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond. He still will need to go on walks and get the socialization and exercise all dogs need.
Tiny will make a great family addition to an experienced family with no small children. H is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call his own, he would love to be with a family that has other dogs as he loves to play and chase around.
Tiny is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

Tiny is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
