Bebe was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 12 May 2012 and has an estimated weight of 12 pounds. Bebe has been listed as a Jack Russel Terrier. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think her breed/s is.

BEBE went to temporarily live with our amazing foster family - here is what they have had to say about her in June 2018:

Just a little info on BeBe, in case anyone is wondering about this sweet girl.We have had her here in our home for a couple of months now. I say sweet BeBe, as she is a cuddle bug big time I can't sit down without her beside or in my lap. Something that I have really been enjoying, as my 2 dogs are much too big for ones lap. She is trained to use the dog door with our dogs. She loves going for walks and is getting a little more used to riding. Does better if she can be in another person's lap. Our yard is fenced in and she loves to go out and explore with our dogs. She does need a firm hand as she likes to try and be alpha with our dogs, and try and be growly, when they go running out the dog door barking at something. But she is super responsive when we correct her. She loves our granddaughter who is 6, she loves to be where ever she is. And would love sleeping in her bed if we would let her. We put her in a medium size kennel when we are gone, and she does just fine. She will go in it when we are home and snuggle down in under the blankets when she is cold. She has been an absolute joy to have in our home .If anyone is interested we are happy to answer any other questions you may have about her. And one more thing she loves to play and run around inside or outside so she has plenty of spunk.

​Information before she left for her foster family

Bebe was located in the kennel building and didn't use the dog door, it has a double-flapped dog door for medium/large sized dogs so she might not have pushed enough to get through, or it might have been that it is just extremely cold here in Maine with lots of snow and ice that put her off going out. Bebe shared her kennel with Chavez a medium sized dog and she was very comfortable in his company.  I have since moved Bebe an over into the shop with some other smaller dogs, where there is a lot more space for them and she is doing fine and using the pee-pads, they do not have access to outside unless i take them out at the moment. Due to this i cannot really say if she is house-trained or not. I would think once on a schedule and a routine of going out she will have no problem, in the mean time, pee-pads would always be a good idea to start the training. i feel it is always best to expect a few accidents and a bit of work and then if she is house-trained then it is a bonus.

Bebe initially acts and looks a lot older than the shelter has deemed her as (5 years old). Part of this, I believe, is that she has been extremely distressed and scared at all the things that have happened to her in such a short time. The more time I spent with her, she is getting a lot more relaxed and confident. Being in the shop, she is happy to venture around and explore. She will climb up on my knee when I sit on the floor and cuddle up.

Bebe loves to chew on the hooves and any treats that we have. She reacted to a few squeaky toys as if she knew what they was, but has not yet started to play with them. She is starting to get a lot more playful and I believe in a loving, family environment when she has settled and knows she is now finally in her forever home, she will thrive and become very playful and a lot of fun.

Bebe is great with other dogs and and she doesn't get intimidated by the bigger dogs and if there is a lot of crazy playing, she will just move out of the way.

​We do not recommend dog parks for several weeks, if not months, it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks.

Bebe is going to need a family that is used to small dogs. Someone who understand that she will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge so that she doesn't get too much of a handful. A somewhat active family who can give her the lifestyle that she needs. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting her explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to hers and your benefit.

It is important that her family understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond.

Bebe will make a great family addition to an experienced family. She is fun, loves the outdoors and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call her own. 

Bebe is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $550.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

Bebe is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
