PANG-NIU was saved from the illegal meat trade in China in the Beijing area. She is one of three of our second batch of saved dogs from this horrific life and we hope to be able to continue to save more. Working with rescue's in China, we pay to get these dogs vetted, tested, quarantined and all other requirements to import them to the safety of the rescue in Sebec, Maine. The adoption fee for our dogs we save from China is $1,500 and covers the costs we incur to save this precious souls. 

Pang-Niu is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm, tick-disease and screw worm tested negative. She has been de-wormed, microchiped and received any necessary monthly preventatives. She has an estimated date of birth of 10 October 2016.  Pang-Niu  is a Tibetan Mastiff / Golden Retreiver Mix. She arrived in the United States on 18th May 2018. We are looking for an experienced working breed adopter for this gorgeous girl. As cute and cuddly as she is, she needs strong leadership for sure.

When we first got Er-Bao out of her crate at the airport she was so confused and scared, we took the dogs for a walk, gave them a drink and some food and then loaded up for the ride home. I had her in a XL wire crate in the back of the car, since she didn't know the other two dogs, but the wire crate gave her more space and can see out and be apart of the journey home, instead of the airline plastic crate she had been flown in. She got in the crate and settled down great.

After a few hours at the rescue Pang-Niu's personality really started to come out, she was kept out with the pups and mum, since the other China dogs was in a pen and the other rescue dogs were in the main area. She was great with the puppies and was happy to roll over and let them climb all over her. She would let them know when she had had enough and they would respectfully listen to their big cuddly new friend. She absolutely loves to play with toys and she is happy to chase a tennis ball, or play with toys and entertain herself. She also enjoys treats, bones, hooves, basically anything you give her she enjoys, she truly is happy to be alive.

Looking like a big cuddly teddy bear - Pang-Niu is going to be popular, with many people wanting to adopt her for the wrong reasons, it is extremely important that you do your research, look at your home, your lifestyle and seriously consider if she is the right fit for you. She is not to be a novelty dog as she has already been through so much trauma, she only deserves a family that are strong and very active with a in depth understanding of her breed.

Pang-Niu got to know the other dogs through the gates and after a few days I did let the other the other two China dogs, Er-Bao and Da-Bao out in her area to give them more space, then after a week at the rescue all were allowed to mingle with the other rescue dogs out back. As big as she is she loves to run and her coat, although she is in need of a good groom, just bounces and flows in the wind, she truly is stunningly magnificent.

She picked up the dog door quickly and does  get in and out and does go outside to do her business. That is not to say she won't have the odd accident in her new home whilst she adjusts and gets used to her new routine and has her family teach her to let them know she wants to go outside. Until arriving at GaDaH, Pang-Niu had never been an inside dog.

The more she settles in and decompresses, the more her personality comes out and the more head-strung she is getting. She is responsive with me, but she does definitely need keeping in check. She plays great with the puppies, but at times gets a little carried away. She is getting a bit too playful with the smaller dogs and although she is playing, she doesn't understand her size to their size. I keep them separate when I am not around, so that no unintentional accidents happen. When she is excited, which is most of the time at the moment, she has started to get a little nippy and bitey, she is not biting, but will grab the back of my trousers, or nip at my arm, it is more to get my attention, playful and fun for her, but this is something that should be worked on as a priority so that she understands that this is totally not acceptable behaviour.

She has a long, thick coat that needs constant brushing and she has hair under her mouth which gets wet and messy. If you do not keep on top of brushing her, she will need regular trips to the groomers which will be expensive due to her size. Although she walks great on the leash, she is a strong girl and has the potential to pull people over, so control and respect from her is a must.

Pang-Niu  is a young, high energy girl who needs guidance and training and it is important that she has a family that understands this and has the time and patience to work with her. It is important that they spend time as a family to work on training, setting boundaries and learning each others personality and body language. It is also important to remember that when taking her to new places, caution must be taken to make sure she feels safe and secure, we do not know if any kinds of noises scare her and always remember that she is from another country and another way of life.

Pang-Niu  is a social girl and has never shown any kind of aggression at all, she lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and puppies and enjoys the company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that he gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout her life. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so we cannot comment on how she would be around them, she is very curious and playful and so I would expect chasing at a minimum.

Pang-Niu  is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue which is located in Sebec, Maine, for an adoption fee of $1,500. This fee covers the costs incurred by the rescue to save this precious soul and get her to the US. The fee is not negotiable. We post in other states and in Canada to ensure our saved dogs get as much exposure as possible and the perfect families are found. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed

Adoptive families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet  Pang-Niu  and if all goes well, take her home with them to start their new wonderful life.​
