ELSA-M was adopted from GaDaH in December 2014 when the rescue was still located in Texas. In early February 2019 we received an email from a high kill shelter in Florida stating that she had been turned in and they was able to track her micro-chip back to the rescue asking if we wanted her back. I was told by the shelter it appeared that she had been passed around from owner to owner. Of course we did and with the help of some amazing people stepping up, we was able to get her out of the shelter, temporarily fostered for a few days until transport was arranged a visit to the vets for health check and health certificate and she arrive up at the rescue on 14th February 2019.

ELSA-M is  spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm and tick disease tested  and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 29 October 2011 and at the time of coming back to the rescue weighed around 66.00 pounds. She is listed as a German Shepherd Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. 

Everyone that has met Elsa-M has absolutely fallen in love with her, she is so loving and affectionate very happy-go-lucky and great with other dogs. She loves to ride in the car, she walks great on the leash, she will let you know when she wants to go out and she is just an all round great loving girl. Whilst with a foster in Florida, she did have a lot of interest in the cats to the point where they recommended that she not be homed with a cat or small animals. She also at one point got out of her collar and did run off, but luckily was contained on the property and was able to be caught. This could be just because she didn't know what was going on and she has been through so much in such a very short time, moving around several times. She might not have ever had the chance to bond with anyone, or she might be a dog that just enjoys to sneak off and go for a run, so it is very important that her new family is aware of this and takes precaution to be sure that she is always safe and secure with no opportunity to run off.

Since being back at the rescue Elsa-M is in one of the kennels and although she would prefer to be living with her own family, she has been great, when let out she gets all excited and is excited when I put a collar on her, so she definitely enjoys going for walks, road trips and adventures.  She has been exposed to young children and was great with them, very sweet and gentle, but as always it is not recommended to leave dogs and children unsupervised every.
ELSA-M although around 7-8 years old still has some energy in her and so a family that goes on walks and adventures would be beneficial to her. She doesn't need 5-10 mile hikes but definitely the chance to go to new places and explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer.  We do not recommend dog parks it is so very important for families and dogs to form a strong bond and get to know each other before exposing them to the potential dangers of dog parks. Although all GaDaH dogs are very well socialized with other dogs, lots of other dogs have not had the benefit of this socialization and do not always know how to play and act with other dogs. You also do not know the control the other families have over their dogs and you should always have a good recall for your adopted dog before going to dog parks.

ELSA-M has not had the best life and really deserves a family that is going to commit to her 100%. A family that understands she has not had stability or security and could be a runner, so will ensure she is kept safe at all times. Someone who will let her cuddle up with them when hanging out and enjoying and sharing many fun times. 

All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. 

​Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
