ROUSEY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. ROUSEY is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 7 April 2018 and at the time of rescue in the middle of April 2019,  weighed around 19.40 pounds. She is listed as a Cairn Terrier / Dachshund Mix . We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so are unable to comment how any dog is or will be around them. ​

Rousey  is in the kennels so I cant say if she is house-trained. She does use the dog door to go out into her run to pee/poop and play and has only had accidents during the night as she is locked in. She does share a kennel with Scrappy and they both are very loving, affectionate, fun and goofy. They plot together to sneak out of the kennel when I am cleaning and run up and down the kennels letting all the dogs see they are free  and then cuddle up together on their dog bed at nighttime.

She would be a great family pet, she is a unique looking girl, She is always friendly and happy to see me or the volunteers that come occasionally come over.

As with all dogs he will need basic and advanced training so that se can learn her families rules, boundaries and expectations. ROUSEY is very responsive and I feel that she will be easy and fun to train and will be eager to please. She is a gentle girl and I think would make a great family dog.

Rousey would be great in a family environment but she must understand that she is not in charge and that rules and boundaries must be followed, she is confident and so I am sure she would push and test the boundaries. She is young, fun and would be great for an active family to take her on long walks and adventures.

All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.

Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

​ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
