THEO was saved with his two siblings, Simon and Alvin, from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Theo is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 16 April 2019 and at the time of rescue in the middle of June 2019, weighed around 5.00 pounds. He is listed as an Chihuahua Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
We are looking for a family that has either another dog or willing to adopt two dogs, we do not feel Theo would do well on his own with just humans.
When the pups arrived at the rescue they were very scared. Simon, who was the smallest and most confident has been adopted, but Alvin and Theo were fearful when they are apart. Alvin is doing much better around humans, but still can be very wary and go very quiet when they are picked up.
As you will see in the pictures and video's, the pups are very happy and a lot of fun, he is energetic and loves playing with his friends outside, chasing and hiding.
Theo is still being a little wary of people, and is not overly affectionate, he will jump up and act as if he wanst to be, but when picked up he goes quiet so we are looking for a family that will give him space and time to adjust and learn to trust so that he can enjoy being loved and to give love like all pups should.
Theo uses the dog door to go out and do his their business and play, but he will not know to let you know he need to go outside, so house-training is going to be needed.
As with all pups, a routine and training is 100% needed and to be taken seriously, training at home with the family is important so that both pups and humans can learn each other's body language and mannerisms.
Theo is still a puppy and so there is a lot of work involved and although he is small he can still be very mischievous and will soon be teething.
WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW HE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK.
Theo is available for adoption for an adoption fee for both boys of $550
Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
