Animal Welfare organizations have been deemed as essential business, and so we are able to continue our operation.  However, we are taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and are following the government guidelines and implemting our own precautions.  Meet & Greets will continue to be on an appointment basis only. They will take place either in the outside enclosed area, or the large room at the end of he kennels. There is a no contact, other than with the dog in place and children will not be allowed out of their vehicles.

GENESIS was saved  from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  GENESIS is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 9 June 2018 and at the time of rescue in December 2019 weighed around 45 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

GENESIS arrived at the rescue on Thursday, 19th December and was adopted a few days later. Sadly on 22nd February he was returned due to aggression. I will update more soon when he has been back a while and got more settled, he is currently in the house with 20 other dogs including small 8 week pups and dogs of all ages and sizes, food and toys are all around and he has been great. Of course he has only been back a few hours so is trying to figure out why he is not with his family. When he arrived at the rescue in December he was very scared, but buddied up with another husky a lovely playful pesonality came out - he has a lot of weight to gain and only gained 11 pounds in the 2 months he was with his family. The pictures and video's are of the day he arrived back at the rescue.

UPDATE- 1 March 2020 - Genesis has been back at the rescue just over a week and he has been doing fantastic, with no concerns from me about any of his behaviour. He is trusted to hang out, play and sleep wiht the other dogs without constant supervision, he lives in the house and uses the dog door and comes and goes as he pleases, he is boistrious as is to be expected of a young dog, but he has learnt rules, boundaries and expectations and has adapted well. He does tend to snatch for treats, but that is workable. He has jumped up to check out what is on the kitchen counter a few times, but is very responsive when told no. I free feed and food is always out and he has never shown any aggression to me or the other dogs when he is eating with the other dogs. A friend has been round and he was very friendly with her, again snatching for treats - but nothing that lots of other dogs don't do and something that is easily fixed.

I think the fact that he has access to food and so can satisfy his hunger as he is still very underweight, the fact that he is getting lots of excercise running and playing with the other dogs, he knows the rules and is a happy boy. He loves playing with the other dogs and there really has been nothing negative that I can say about him. I have not had children here so cannot comment on how he is going to be around children. Of course it is important for families to take on board what happended with the family that adopted, they reported that he was aggressive in everyway - dog aggressive, food aggressive and that he jumped up and attacked their 13 year old daughter and bit the mother whilst she had treats.

I have never seen any aggression, he jumps up and snatches which could be construed as biting and jumping up is something he does a lot of, but never in an aggressive stance. I have taken several video's that are on his page on the rescue website so people can see his personality, of course care and monitoring should always be taken with new dogs and caution since he was an adoption return, but that doens't necessarily mean he is a bad dog, maybe just his actions mis-understood and with him still being skinny and only gaining 11 pounds in 2 months, most likely eager for more food. The family also said he was very anxious, which as I explained he was very fearful when he first arrived at the rescue but I put another husky in with him and he soon settled down. The family adopted him and his kennel mate within a few days of being here. They said he destroyed several crates and chewed up several dog beds.

He is a great boy, huskies have their own independent personalities, who need experienced, strong families who will ensure that negative behaviour is not tolerated. With the right family who understands the breed, I do not believe he would have any problems - he does of course need a LOT of exercise, which also could have been part of the problem.

WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW HE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK.

GENESIS is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
