RYE was transferred from a rescue in West Texas to GaDaH. RYE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped and at the time of transfer in May 2020 weighed around 15 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 May 2019. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
We are looking to adopt RYE and her best friend PEACHES together since they are a bonded pair. We will NOT be adopting them seperately so please do not email to ask.
Rye and Peaches are currently living in a communal area with other small, dogs and puppies and have been doing great. Rye is the more confident, but Peaches won't miss out on any fun or fuss, she just waits to see what happens with Rye before charing over for her share. They get on great with other dogs and love to play and jump all over them, but are able to get as much as they give, as being young they are quite excitable and rowdy. They have access to a closed in back porch area where they go out to play and enjoy the fresh air. T hey are very sweet girls, although for small dogs have a lot of energy to burn, and so with an active family would be a lot of fun.
We are not able to say if they are house-trained as they have 24/7 acess to the outside area and also pee pads in the house, so we expect families to be prepared to work on housetraining whilst they transition to their new home, life and family.
As mentioned Rye and Peaches are energetic young girls who are bursting with energy and so we are looking for an active family that will take them on walks, road trips and adventures so they can enjoy what the world has to offer. As with all new dogs Rye and Peaches do need to be trained and it is beneficial for both girls and their new family to do basic training at home, so personalities, body language and mannerisms can be learnt from each other, boundaries and rules set for them. Training classes are encouraged for socialization also. Since being at the rescue neither Rye or Peache have been exposed to cats or livestock so we are unable to say how thew would be around them.
All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.
