PETER was transferred from a rescue in West Texas to GaDaH. Peter is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, lepto, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped and at the time of transfer in May 2020 weighed around 45 pounds. He has an estimated date of birth of 16 September 2018.  We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

Peter is currently living in a communal area with other small, medium and large sized dogs and puppies and has been doing great. He is best friends with Pheobe, an 18 month female cattle dog and although they play with other dogs, they are always together. We would love to adopt them together. They have a lot of space to run, chase and play and burn off some of the energy that he has. Peter is very happy go lucky with a streak of wild-child, he does jump up a lot and is very excitable. This of course will be because he has had no training or taught any manners and he is no doubt very happy to be in a location where he can run, play and wrestle with his friends. He is a very sweet boy, very loving and affectionate and with an active family would be a lot of fun.

Peter has access to a large enclosed in area, which is accessed through a dog door. We are not able to say if he is house-trained other than that, so we expect families to be prepared to work on housetraining whilst he transitions to his new home, life and family.

PETER is an energetic adult who is bursting with energy and so we are looking for an active family that will take him on walks, road trips and adventures so he can enjoy what the world has to offer. As with all new dogs Peter does need to be trained and it is beneficial for both him and his new family to do basic training at home, so personalities, body language and mannerisms can be learnt from each other, boundaries and rules set for him.  Training classes are encouraged for socialization also. Since being at the rescue Peter has not been exposed to cats or livestock so we are unable to say how he would be around them.

PETER is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, located in Sebec, Maine for an adoption fee of $550. If adopted with his best friend, PHEOBE" a $50 discount per dog will be given ($500 per dog). Families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine for meet and greet at time of adoption

Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
