CHANTEL was surrendered with 4 other dogs from a local breeder. We are told he is around 2 years old. CHANTEL is scheduled to be spayed and fully vetted the week of 1st November and will be available for adoption on 5th November 2021.

When I went to pick Chantel and her buddies up she was absolutely terrified and took a few days to settle when she got to the house. However, after she had settled and watch the boy dogs get more adventurous she started to get more confident and explore and follow me around and now is the sweetest love bug going. She has no problem jumping up on the bed and is starting to enjoy her ears being scratched and her chest rubbed. She enjoys being with her dog friends, but also will paw at me for attention when she wants her ears rubbed.

Chantel has seen and been around cats and was at first extremely curious, most likely never having seen a cat before and although she watches when they are moving around that is all she is doing at the moment, but I do not foresee her being aggressive towards them.

Chantel is not housetrained but does use the pee pads. She has most likely never had a leash and collar on and so families must be prepared to work with her on this and all levels of training. Chantel does have a medium/long coat that will need to be brushed regularly and groomed to keep it maintained.

Although Chantel is a small breed dog, she is young and should be active and will require plenty of exercise. We are only going to be accepting applications from families that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to her needs, now and over the next 10+ years.       More pictures and possible video's can be found on her page on the rescue website.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.

The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavours. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating in accordance with  dogfoodadvisor.com .  There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free!

ALL dogs are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopting two dogs/pups $1,000 for both dogs.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed.

Canadian families must confirm with the border that they are able to cross and have the required vaccines, documentation and anything else needed to enter the US. Also it is important to know that Canadian Customs charge 15% taxes on the adoption when you return into Canada.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt,  then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue for meet/greet/adopt

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
