Update - 14th JUNE 2011

I was looking over Captain last night and am so pleased at how his hair is growing back. His face no longer looks like that of an old dog, his legs are getting hairy and he has progressed so much.

His personality continues to shine, getting more and more playful and confident each day. He is learning basic commands, and is very social with the dogs. He is well behaved around the house, people and other dogs.

Captain has had a rough life and he deserves lots of fun, and good loving. Captain will suit an active person/family who will include him in their daily acitivities. Captain is great with other dogs and so a companion dog would be perfect.

Captain will soon be ready for adoption, as his hair is growing back so well. He has no other ailments, other than recovering from demodex mange, which has been treated it is just a matter of his hair regrowth. He truly is a wonderful dog, who will give lots of fun, love and companionship. He deserves a great family!

UPDATE - 31 May 2011

Captain is doing great, his hair is starting to grow back, his feet are healing well and his personality just keeps shining. He is learning to play with both the big dogs and the small dogs, he loves to give and receive some cuddles, he is learning basic commands and is picking them up quickly.

Captain's adoption fee, will be a minimum donation of $250

If anyone is interested in meeting with Captain to build up a relationship so when he is fully healthy and ready to be adopted it will be an easy transition - please contact Jenny at - giveadogahome@live.com

CAPTAIN was a stray taken in by Animal Care Services and had his kill date as 4th May 2011. GaDaH managed to pull him and save his life.

Captain was extremely skinny, has really bad demodex mange but apart from that he is an absolutely beautiful young dog.

He is estimaed at being around 19 months old, although due to his skin condition he does look  lot older.

Captain shares the home with 3 puppies, my 3 german shepherds, and Colonel a GSD that we rescued the same day. Captain got on very well with all dogs almost immediately, and paid attention to what the my alpha girl was telling him - my house, my rules lol.

Captain had really bad feet when I brought him home, and he was obviously in pain walking, after a good bath a trip to the vets, some antibiotics, pain killers, a lime-dip and now some nu-stock, anitceptic spray, honey, colostrum, coconut oil, seameal, liver and honey, he is most definitely stating to show health improvements, and I have absolutely no doubt that when all his hair grows back (if it does) he will be an extremely handsome dog, he is already handsome.

Captain will NOT be available for adoption until he has returned to good health, however, if someone is interested, I am more than happy to have you come over and spend as much time with him, getting to now each other and building up the ever so important relationship, so that when he is fully recovered, it won't be as much of a dramatic move.

Captain has the sweetest personality, he craves affection and yet is so gentle, his eyes have so much depth in thm, and after each walk, each meal, or each cuddle he looks me straight into the eyes with such intensity - as if to say "Thank you so much" it is very movig when he does it and it does make me more passonate to continue what to save dogs from death.

Captain is learning sit and as he starts to recover more I will do more things with him, I don't want to overwhelm him too much too soon, he has been through a lot and is not getting settledand actually started to play with a toy last night (14th May) which he had been watching all the other dogs do. His feet are starting to heal more and he is able to move around more comfortably , but we still have a way to go.

Captain is an intelligent dog and just wants to be loved and be able to give his love and devotion, he will not be adopted out as an outside dog, nor as any time of guard dog, he will only be adopted to become a part of a family. He deserve someone or a family that will include him in their lives and there is no doubt in my mind that he will bring great joy and fantastic companionship. Captain is going to be one of those dogs that are hard to let go, as a very special bond is already forming between us. However, he deserves to be where he get all the attention, or share it with just one or two playmates, and being a rescue, I can't do that.
