Update - 14th December
Bella has made fantastic progress after her surgery. She is using her leg quite a lot now and runs with it whilst out in the field, it is just a matter of time for the muscle to build back up and you would never be able to tell that she had the FHO surgery.
BELLA is a great dog, she alerts you to noise, will play with the other dogs, allow the puppies to crawl all over her, but wants to be near her best friend... me :) BELLA is a perfect companion dog, someone who wants company going for walks, going for runs, walking by the lake, going for car rides, or chilling out in the house, BELLA will be with you wherever you go.
If you would like to meet Bella, and get to feel her amazing loving personality, please email me at giveadogahome@live.com to arrange to come and meet her.

Update: 17th November 2011
BELLA is doing great, she has had her HW treatment and her surgery recovery is on track. She is putting weight on her leg now, although not all the time, but this kind of surgery can take a few months to recover from.
She is back in high spirits, no longer on any kind of medication and just loves to be either with the pack, or lying beside me.
BELLA is a very special girl, she has been through so much, and yet her personality just shines through. She would make an EXCELLENT COMPANION dog, as she just loves to love, or be close by. She is still young where she will need a good run, but would be happy to stick with her best friend.
BELLA would also make a very good THERAPY dog, she is great around other dogs, loves to be fussed on, and is calm and loving, and who doesn't love to see a Gorgeous German Shepherd walking towards them, to make them feel loved and secure.
If you are interested in coming to meet BELLA, please email Jenny - giveadogahome@live.com.

UPDATE - 19th October 2011
BELLA has had her Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO) surgery and is make excellent progress. She is already running and putting weight on her leg. She had a check up on Monday 17th October, and Dr. Guevara (Callagahan Road Animal Hospital) was very pleased with her movement.
BELLA will be available for adoption around November, she is an extremely loving, loyal dog, she has been through so much and deserves a family that can give her lots of love and attention, and who also can take all the love and devotion she has to give. Although she has had surgery on her hip, her movement is no way hindered, and when her hair has grown back and she is using it fully again, you would never be able to tell she had surgery.
BELLA is having HW treatment on Monday 24th October!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bella, is a beautiful female GSD, aged at approximately 3 years.
She was saved from being killed at Animal Care Services, San Antonio, and is has bad malnutition.
Bella will need to spend time, getting some weight on and getting healthy. She is HW positive, and GaDaH will pay for any treatment as soon as it is available (it is currently unavailable), in the mean time she is having the monthly HW preventative, and also a month of doxy.
Bella also has hip-dysplasia, arthritis, and an enlarged mammary gland. She is going to be having the FHO treatment, and her mammary gland removed to ensure there are no future problems. The surgery is expected to take place around the beginning of October 2011.
Bella is such a loving dog, who has obviously had a very rough time, yet this does not show in her personality, she is slightly wary of humans, but within moments, she seems to have sensed a comfort zone. She loves to lie beside my chair, wherever I am sat.
She gets on great with the other dogs, and wants to play, she loves chasing one of my GSDs after the ball, I can only imagine how energetic and how much fun she is going to be when she is back to a good health.
Bella will be available for adoption when she is healthy, however, if you are interested in taking this wonderful girl into your home, and giving her the life of love, fun and happiness she has not had, then please contact me.
We can arrange for you to come and meet her, and if you still like (it will be hard not to once you have met her) we can arrange for you to come and spend time with her as often as you like, helping her on her road to recovery and building that ever so important bond, this way when the adoption application process is complete, the transition will be a lot smoother.
If you are interested in helping to raise funds, or to donate to BELLA's treatment, you can do so, via PAYPAL - giveadogahome@live.com, cash/check, or direct to CALLAGHAN ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL.
