SHADOW
Shadow is a brave young puppy, that we saved from a local Kill shelter. She has demodex mange on and around her face and small parts on her body. This is being treated and is NOT contagious.
SHADOW at first when she came to Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, was very shy, she would entwine herself around my legs, and didn't really want to be near the other dogs - which is somewhat difficult since there are 19 of them at the moment. This only lasted a few days, and she has settled in and become quite the "bossy boots". She is extremely sweet, very affectionate, but is going to be a dog that does not take any grief from any other dog, or human if they would let her.
She is on antibiotics, and other meds to treat the mange and the discomfort and her face has already started to clear up. In 3-4 weeks you will not be able to tell she has suffered, and will be the stunning beautiful GSD that she is.
SHADOW - is going to need a family that understands the working dog breed, in the fact that they need not just physical exercise, but mental exercise also. This is very important and in my opinion, why there are so many young German Shepherds in kill shelters. People get them as they are easy to train, but don't realise how intelligent these dogs are, and don't want to go further than the basic commands.
German Shepherd Dogs are such loyal, devoted, intelligent dogs, they are great for Search and Rescue (SAR) Therapy / Service dog training, agility or just being with an active family that will take them to new places and let their senses absorb and learn from the new smells, sights, and sounds. This along with training, long walks, will keep a GSD happy, and SHADOW is the perfect age to start learning.
SHADOW will not be released for adoption until her demodex mange has cleared, if someone is familiar with demodex mange and would be willing to keep her appointments at Callaghan Road Animal Hospital, the GaDaH vet, we may be able to discuss earlier release with certain conditions.
SHADOW is:
An indoor girl
Spayed
Rabies
Microchipped
Heartworm Negative
up to date on her shots
House trained
Loves to play
Very loving and affectionate, although can be reserved
Would make the perfect companion
