MAJOR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services with bad skin infection and mange. He was malnourished and had sores o his feet. Within a month his mange had cleared up, his feet were better and he had started to gain weight. I did have concerns as it seemed that his coat wasn't growing back - HOWEVER, the past month his undercoat has started to come through and he is starting to look like the magnificent boy that he is.

MAJOR still has quite a bit of hair to grow, but I believe that within a few months at the most he will have a nice healthy looking coat. It would benefit him to have a nice bath every few weeks to help the growth.

MAJOR is a great boy who weighs around 70-75 pounds, he does get excited and is very strong. He walks ok on a leash, but does pull at times, so some work in this area is very important. MAJOR has stayed in two homes with cats, the first home it was reported that he wouldn't stop chasing the cat. The 2nd home had FIVE cats and apart from the initial wanting to smell them, he didn't really bother with them, so I think with him it would be more if the cats are used to dogs he would be fine, if the cats are most likely to run, then he will most likely chase them.

MAJOR is great with kids and when he stayed in the 2nd home he stayed with the 9 year old daughter and when he wasn't beside her he was watching her. He is more responsive to women than men, but that could be that he has lived with me at the rescue and so used to women being in charge :)

MAJOR can at times seem to bully dogs, but as soon as a dog challenges him he immediately backs down. MAJOR has a great toy drive and he loves to chase the ball, or just play with his toys on his own.

MAJOR is an all round great dog, he can be vocal when he wants attention, but that is typical of the GSD breed. MAJOR does need a family that understands the GSD mentality and needs and is able to provide him an active and mentally stimulating life. MAJOR's size and strength should be taken into account whilst considering taking MAJOR into your home, without proper training and having him respect his family, MAJOR could easily over power someone.

MAJOR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue - Adoption fee $350
