GRETCHEN was saved from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston where she had been found tied to a tree outside the shelter with an injured right rear foot.

GRETCHEN was flown to GaDaH and taken to the vet, where it was determined that she had been bitten by a snake. Her wound was cleaned and treated with an ointment and she is on antibiotics for 2 weeks, with dressing changes every 3 days for 2 weeks.

Other than the wound to her foot, GRETCHEN is in wonderful condition, she puts weight on her foot, the bandage doesn't concern her, she is very happy and loving and is very responsive.

She has not been phased by all the other dogs and is already mingling with them all as if she has been her for months.

GRETCHEN is estimated to be around 18 months old.
She is Heart-worm NEGATIVE, rabies core vaccines, micro-chipped and spayed.

GRETCHEN can be adopted through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, located in Devine, Texas, which is just south of San Antonio.  We do NOT have a physical shelter and so do NOT invite people round to see the dogs. We have an application process, details of which can be found on our website.

GaDaH DOES Allow out of state adoptions, however, we require the family to travel to San Antonio to spend time with the dog to be sure of a perfect fit before traveling home together.
