SAMUEL was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services KILL shelter, he was injured with possible neurological problems and a fractured front leg.
He was taken to our vet and x-rays confirmed that he had a fracture in both bones on his front left leg. He also had severe had bobbing and lack of coordination. It was decided that this could be due to concussion and was to be observed. SAMUEL had a splint put on his leg.
SAMUEL has done amazing at the rescue, he weight 48 pounds when we first brought him to rescue and now just under 7 weeks later he weighs 61.2 pounds and looking GREAT. SAMUEL had his splint taken off on 27th October, x-rays taken and given the all clear from the vet.
SAMUEL still does have slight neurological issues in that he does have a slower reaction, but he is very affectionate, loving, he is great with the other dogs, he loves to play and he is smart enough to knock the box of treats off the counter and allow his buddies to share them with him.
SAMUEL will do well with a family that is ok with a GSD that has this slight issue, he will still benefit from basic training, he is responsive to his name and is fully aware of what is going on around him. He would be great with a family with children to love and play with him,
SAMUEL is neutered, rabies, DHPP, bordetella, HW tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped.
SAMUEL is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
Our adoption application and process can be found on our website - www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org
