SNOW was saved from Beaumont Animal Shelter on 16th December 2014. It was reported that she had been seen by their local vet and had an internal abscess in her stomach area and was heart-worm positive, although she had not been tested, the vet could tell by her cough!

She was taken directly to our vet who determined by sight, touch and hearing that SNOW was in fact extremely pregnant and most likely to give birth within a few days. X-rays confirmed she had 11 fetus inside her. She was tested for Heartworm and the three tick diseases and tested negative for all. Blood and chemistry panels were run showing SNOW to be anemic and very Mal-nourished, she was extremely thin and weak.

SNOW was brought back to rescue and put on a high calorie diet with lots of immune support and calcium supplements and on the morning on 19th December 2014 she gave birth to 11 very small, weak puppies. Sadly all of the puppies died during the course of the following month, with our believing it to be fading puppy syndrome and also that fact that SNOW was in such a bad condition and a litter of 11 puppies for a large dog is a lot.

SNOW had lost interest in the puppies when they was around 3 weeks old and stopped feeding them - I think animals know when their off-spring are not going to make it. She started socializing with the other dogs, she had already started to gain weight and her personality over the next month really started to shine through.

SNOW is a happy dog, she at times can be cautious around people, but once she knows they can be trusted she is a complete love bug. She loves to play with the other dogs, KNOX our Black GSD who has a goofy over-step caused by a neurological birth defect being her best friend. SNOW is clearly feeling and looking so much better and is ready for her new forever family.

SNOW will benefit a family that has another dog, since she clearly enjoys their company, she will need at least basic and hopefully advanced training by her new family, which not only creates a bond and helps her understand boundaries and expectations, but also lets both dog and human understand and learn each others body-language. She will need a family that understands that she needs lots of stimulation and plenty of both mental and physical exercise to keep her healthy and happy.

SNOW is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and 3-tick-borne-disease tested negative. She is micro-chipped and has a date of birth of around December 2011

SNOW is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
