GILLIGAN was saved from Dallas Animal Services on 24th March 2015.
GILLIGAN is a confident young boy, who had no problem getting amongst the 50 other rescue dogs when he got her to rescue. He did try to show his dominance, which is natural for dogs to do with other dogs, but was not aggressive or persistent when the other dogs was having none of it. I do think that if GILLIGAN was with a submissive dog he would take the alpha roll and I do not think he would challenge a strong alpha dog.
GILLIGAN is very affectionate, he loves to follow me round and lie as close to the bed as he can, which can be difficult as all the dogs want the same lol
GILLIGAN has been no problem with the small dogs we have in rescue, he lets them get under his feet and doesn't get angry with them.
GILLIGAN is an high energy boy and will be looking for a family that has an active life-style and has the time and energy to work with him. He, as with all dogs, will benefit from basic and advanced obedience training with the family. This helps to set the boundaries and guidelines and helps both human and dog learn about each others personalities and body language.
GILLIGAN is house trained in so far as he uses the doggy-door to go outside, he is very smart and I do not think there would be any issues there. We do not have cats at the rescue so are unable to comment how GiLLIGAN will respond with cats.
GILLIGAN is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of around 18th March 2013 and at the time of rescue he weighed 51 pounds.
GILLIGAN is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
