BEAR was saved from a life of living in a back-yard tied to a short chain in Tyler, Texas area. He was saved by a local rescue who approached GaDaH to see if we could take him into rescue. He was transported from Texas to Sebec, Maine and arrived at the rescue on 12th August 2015.
BEAR was severely under-weight and he had tested positive for heart-worm disease, which has been treated. He has gained weight, but still has a lot of weight to gain. BEAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine and de-wormed. At the time of coming to GaDaH he weighed 47.1 pounds and so obviously has a lot of weight to gain. He has an estimated date of birth of 27 July 2013.
At the rescue BEAR is somewhat anxious, he would be much better in a family environment with a smaller group of dogs. He does get on great with other dogs, since we do not have cats at the rescue we cannot comment on how he is with cats.
He is great with people and children and is very well mannered. BEAR will take time to gain the 20-30 pounds of weight that he needs and as he does he will start feeling, looking and acting much better.
BEAR would be great for a family that understands the German Shepherd Dog. Who has the time to work and train with him, to give him the mental and physical stimulation and exercise that he needs.
BEAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $400.

Our process takes around 3-7 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. The rescue is located in Sebec, Maine, 04481 and we do prefer if families can travel up to meet the dog before taking them home to start their new lives, however, we do understand that this is not always possible and will work with you in finding suitable transport to get them to you. This may come at an additional cost to the adopter
