SCHOTZI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services, a High Kill Shelter in Texas.

SCHOTZI is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of  4 November 2012 and at time of rescue she weighed around 54 pounds.

SCHOTZI is a very affectionate girl and loves to be close by. She is on the smaller side, although she is very thin and needs to gain a good amount of weight. SCHOTZI looks like she has had pups at some point, but

We have three rabbits and SCHOTZI sits beside their hutches in the living room and watches with fascination as they run around playing. She has never tried to get to the rabbits and I do not believe that she would do any harm, she is just extremely curious. We do not have cats in rescue and as with the rabbits I do not think she would do them any harm, but since cats will most likely run  off I imagine her to chase them and if she got to them would maybe be a little rough with them, so caution and training would be needed if cats were in the family.

SCHOTZI -walks ok on a leash, although as with all dogs would benefit and needs basic and advanced obedience. This is best done with her family so that she can learn expectations and boundaries and so they she and they can learn each others personalities and body language to help with bonding. She is an intelligent girl and listens and responds well so I believe training will not only be fun, but she will learn fast.

SCHOTZI would suit an active family who has the time to train and take her on lots of fun adventures, allowing her to enjoy the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer. She does have a good amount of energy and so that physical release and the mental stimulation intelligent dogs need are a must.

SCHOTZI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

SHOTZI is currently located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine, however, we post in states along the east coast and Canada, this gives our precious saved souls more exposure and once adopted, we are able to save more dogs from the kill shelters in Texas that get 3 days before they are killed.

We love it when families can take a trip to meet the dogs before taking them home, but understand this is not always possible and so work in arranging transport to pick up from the rescue in Sebec and can meet up with families around the Middleton, CT area. This can come at an additional cost, generally between $100 - $150 and is paid directly to the transport.
