BEIBEI was saved from the illegal meat trade in China. He is one of three of our first saved dogs from this horrific life and we hope to be able to continue to save more. Working with rescue's in China, we pay to get these dogs vetted, tested, quarantined and all other requirements to import them to the safety of the rescue in Sebec, Maine. The adoption fee for our dogs we save from China is $1,500 and covers the costs we incur to save this precious souls.

BEIBEI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm, tick-disease and screw worm tested negative. He has been de-wormed, microchiped and received any necessary monthly preventatives. He has an estimated date of birth of 3rd June 2017. Beibei arrived in the United States on 24th March 2018.

BeiBei is no doubt a super handsome boy, he is young and is adapting to his new life in the United States wonderfully. He is great with other dogs, he is playful with small puppies and a love bug with all humans. He does "mouth" a lot and so this is very important for his new family to be aware of and work on teaching him that this is not an acceptable behaviour.

BeiBie does have the longer hair and so regular brushing is important not just to remove dead or loose hair, but to prevent matting which can get very painful. BeiBei walks ok on the leash, although he does zig-zag a little, which is just because he has not had much practice. He rides wonderfully in the car and does use the dog door to go outside to do his business, although at times I have caught him still peeing at the door or on the puppy pee pads, so it is important to expect accidents as he will once again be having a huge transition in his life.

BeiBie is a young, high energy boy who needs guidance and training and it is important that he has a family that understands this and has the time and patience to work with him. It is important that they spend time as a family to work on training, setting boundaries and learning each others personality and body language. It is also important to remember that taking him to new places, caution must be taken to make sure he feels safe and secure, we do not know if any kinds of noises scare him.

BeiBie is a social boy and has never shown any kind of aggression at all, he lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and puppies and enjoys the company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that he gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout his life. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment on how he would be around them, he is very curious and playful and so I would expect chasing at a minimum.

BeiBei is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue which is located in Sebec, Maine, for an adoption fee of $1,500. This fee covers the costs incurred by the rescue to save this precious soul and get him to the US. The fee is not negotiable. We post in other states and in Canada to ensure our saved dogs get as much exposure as possible and the perfect families are found.

Adoptive families MUST travel to the rescue in Sebec, Maine to meet BeiBei and if all goes well, take him home with them to start their new wonderful life.

BeiBei's story from his Chinese Rescue Family

Hi My Dear friends in the US! My name is Beibei which in Chinese means pearl or something that people cherish all the time.

However, I didn't feel like I was a pearl, nor cherished. I don’t know who my parents are or where I was born…As early as I could remember, I was all alone, wandering around the cold, winter streets, looking for food.

I was always looking for food. It was freezing cold out there. I remembered it was New Year eve and there were loud, terrifying sounds of the fireworks…

I saw many other street friends who were starved to death, captured for meat or killed by the police… I didn’t know what is going to happen to me.

My health condition was terrible and I almost didn’t make it through the winter if it was for that night—a lady, with the smell of blossom, came to my world. She fed me with food and water, patted on my head, and talked to me. I could feel her warm, gentle hand touching my bony back. I felt in love with her immediately. I wanted to follow her home but I stopped when I saw the hesitation on her face. I didn’t understand why she refused me even though I knew that I must have looked so filthy and ugly.  What I didn’t know is that she was already taking care of two hundred homeless dogs in her little shelter and she was already so overload and exhausted…

I thought I would never see her again until several days later, a stranger picked me up from a smelly pile of trash. Frightened, I was too weak to struggle.

The stranger brought me to a little house and I smelled her scent the moment the door opened! She hugged me so hard despite my muddy hair and shaking body.

I then knew that she never forgets about me! She couldn’t stop worrying about me since that night. She had told everyone to look for me from street to street and finally after several days the lucky me was found!

She gave me a home with two hundred brothers and sisters. I had food and place to sleep and grew tall and strong.

It was a difficult departure that was full of love. I was watching her while being put into the crate and carried away by the flight volunteer. I know that I was never going to see her again, but hopefully she will see me soon through the pictures. And I can see her bursting with tears to know that I finally got a a second chance to live, in a nation that values life.

Rescuer Lady Tian:

BeiBei
BeiBei was rescued from the streets during the winter. He was so tiny when we found him and we couldn’t tell his breed. When we found out that he is a GSD, however it worries us just as much as we know that he could never ever be adopted in China because of his size…When we heard that some American friends out there may be willing to adopt him, I was so thrilled. Thank you so much for giving him another chance! He is a wonderful dog and he will become a fabulous member in your family!
