|
EL-VIRA was transferred from a rescue in West Texas to GaDaH. El-Vira is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, microchipped and at the time of transfer in May 2020 weighed around 50 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of 22 November 2017 and is a front-leg amputee. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
El-vira is currently living in the house with other small, medium and large sized dogs and puppies and has been doing great. She can be very shy at first and was a little over-whelmed meeting the other dogs, but when she has gained confidence she is great. She is a very sweet girl, very loving and affectionate and with a fun and relatively family would be a lot of fun. She would make an excellent family addition and the rescue in Texas were all very madly in love with her.
El-Vira has access to a large enclosed in area, which is accessed through a dog door. although she is living in the house, due to having 24/7 access to outside, we are not able to say if she is house-trained other than that, so we expect families to be prepared to work on housetraining whilst she transitions to her new home, life and family.
El-vira, although only has 3 legs, she gets around great, she of course is not going to be wanting to go on 10 mile hikes, but is happy going on walks, at her own pace, and getting up and down porch/deck stairs is not a problem for her. She is looking for a family that will include her in activities so that she can build up and keep the strength in her other legs muscles so she can stay strong and active so we are looking for a reltaively active family that will take her on walks, road trips and adventures so she can enjoy what the world has to offer. Water spors would be of great benefit for her. As with all new dogs El-vira does need to be trained and it is beneficial for both her and her new family to do basic training at home, so personalities, body language and mannerisms can be learnt from each other, boundaries and rules set for her. Training classes are encouraged for socialization also. Since being at the rescue El-vira has not been exposed to cats or livestock so we are unable to say how she would be around them.
All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.
